Doctors optimistic about Bodi's condition
from WSFA12
(December
15, 2011) -- Doctors originally believed K9 Bodi would spend the rest of
his life blind - but as time helps heal wounds, Bodi's condition is
improving.
Bodi greeted media this afternoon with a wagging tail at the Taylor
Crossing Animal Hospital. The dog will remain under veterinary care
until early next week and in three weeks the doctors will re-evaluate
his eyesight.
Bodi
did sustain three gunshot wounds to the face. His left eye had to be
removed but doctors say some sight is returning to his right eye. At the
time of the shooting, Bodi was only three weeks away from retirement.
As with any police officer, all of Bodi's medical bills will be taken care
of. However, the Montgomery Police Department is taking donations for
anyone wishing to help with rising veterinary expenses. You can mail-in
or take donations to police headquarters.
After his retirement, the 11-year-old German shepherd will continue to
live with his MPD partner and family.
